Welcome to the YCSD

Since 1964 the Yale Club of San Diego has committed itself to bring together alumni, students, faculty, parents, and spouses of Yale College as well as the Graduate and Professional Schools. Come share the Boola Boola spirit to socialize, network, educate, and serve our community as members of Yale’s Finest Alumni in America’s Finest City.

I encourage all Yalies in the San Diego area to get involved.  The YCSD is always looking for volunteers and ideas to make the Club a more rewarding experience for you.  Please contact us at yaleclubofsandiego@gmail.com

Aug 4 @ 10:30 am – 1:30 pm

YCSD Annual Summer Send-Off Picnic

Come join the Yale Club of San Diego at Presidio Park in Mission Hills as we host a picnic for Yale’s Class of 2023.  Feast on champagne, cold chicken and caviar (well, maybe not all of those things), but definitely partake of the grilled food and company of Yalies old and new.  This is also a great opportunity for students and parents to meet each other, talk to alumni, and embrace the Bulldog spirit.

Cost is free for students and family, $10 for alumni and their guests.

Register here:

Please note on the below map that the picnic site is at the very top of the hill past the actual Presidio.  Look for Yale themed banners.

2019.08.17 Yale Club of San Diego KM ReStore

Habitat ReStores are independently owned and operated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations accepting donations and selling home improvement items to the public at a fraction of the retail price.  Proceeds are used to help build strength, stability, self-reliance and shelter in local communities and around the world — a good deal for you, your community and the environment.

Some of the volunteer jobs include:

  • Creating decorative displays
  • DIY projects
  • Customer service
  • Stocking store shelves
  • Unloading trucks
  • Furniture repair and refurbishing
  • Helping with donation pickups
  • Pricing inventory
  • Organizing the ReStore and the warehouse
  • Cashier
  • Sales floor associate
  • Merchandiser

Please register using the Yale-specific link for the limited number of volunteer spots available.  This link helps ensure we have committed volunteers and properly records volunteer hours.  The minimum age to volunteer in the ReStore is 14.  Minors volunteering as part of a group must be accompanied by a chaperone (1 chaperone per 5 minors).

Everyone must wear close toed shoes and comfortable work clothes that they would not mind getting dirty.  Tools and safety supplies will be available.   Instruction and safety training will be presented by a member of the ReStore staff.

The hands and hearts of our volunteers make home ownership dreams within reach for hard working families.  We cannot thank you enough for your support of this mission.

Highlights from the 2019 YCSD Annual Brunch “Journalism in the Trump Era”

During a picturesque and delightfully sunny San Diego city backdrop, the YCSD welcomed our guest speaker Ms. Katharine Mieszkowski ’93, senior reporter for Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting.  Her multimedia presentation introduced the audience to how traditional journalistic precepts have changed during the Trump administration affecting not only the public but also the reporting journalists.
During Q&A the audience addressed what should be done to properly recognize and hold accountable sources of media and information.  What is “fair”, “fact”, and “fake”?  Should government censorship be an option?  Should the free market be left to sort it out?  Is there another way or is this history repeating itself using different media?  Regardless of one’s opinion(s) a great discussion was had by all.  In true Yale spirit the afternoon was insightful and respectful while tackling a provocative topic.  Thanks again to Ms. Mieszkowski for visiting the YCSD.
